What changes under the new Machinery Regulation?

Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 applies directly and updates high-risk categories, digital documentation, cybersecurity and systems with self-evolving behaviour. Each product needs a specific review.

Can machinery instructions be digital only?

The Regulation permits digital instructions when accessibility, download and retention conditions are met. A free paper copy must still be supplied when requested under the Regulation.

How are high-risk machinery categories identified?

Check Annex I to Regulation (EU) 2023/1230. Part A requires prescribed third-party procedures; Part B permits the conformity routes allowed by the Regulation.

When does the Machinery Regulation apply?

Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 applies from 20 January 2027. Applicability, technical files and remediation should be prepared before that date.

Which technical records start the review?
